Today looks like 2/3 of the NHL is looking to add while 1/3 is looking to sell. This makes the prices for even the lowest rental players go up, up, up. This may cause a less trades or a team desperately overpaying.
The big players today are expected to be the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings. The Kings and Rangers are both in on Stars' C Brad Richards. However, the Kings could add much more with around $20million in cap space.
Reports speculate that if teams do not offer more than Dallas could be holding onto Richards.
The Kings also are in on Oilers' winger ales Hemsky and possibly even Florida's David Booth. Both teams are interested in prospect Brayden Schenn back. the Kings have labeled him untouchable since he was drafted but as the deadline nears and pressure mounts they may pull the trigger.
Speaking of Florida they will most likely be the big sellers. G Tomas Vokoun, winger David Booth, C Stephen Weiss, forward Marty Reasoner, D Bryan Allen, D Denis Wideman and practically anyone else on their roster is available for the right price.
I would love to see Florida finally get a good return for their big ticket item (Vokoun) that they have failed to do in years past (Bouwmeester). But with only a few teams possibly looking for a goalie the Panthers may be out of luck.
Updates will be given through Twitter (@zelePUCKin) and the big updates will be posted here.
Merry Trade Day to you and your family!
