Panthers Deal Dvorak to Thrashers

Florida GM Tallon traded forward Radek Dvorak and a 5th Rounder to the Atlanta Thrashers for a pair of forwards. The Thrashers sent Niclas Bergfors and Patrick Rissmiller packing in hopes that Dvorak's experience would help push them out of the bubble and into the playoffs.

Bergfors is a 23 year old Swede who was part of the Kovy trade last year. He will be an important piece to FLA moving forward. He has 11 goals and 18 assists in 52 games this year.

ATL overpaid in my opinion for Dvorak. Dvorak only has 7 goals in 53 games and at 33 years of age, doesn't do much for Atlanta's future, even if he resigns there when his contract is up. Atlanta's thinking must be that playoffs this year will help future over Bergfors. Ownership problems and rumors of relocation might have added pressure to sell future pieces for quick fix. However, Bergfors is more of a threat than Dvorak.

Win: Tallon picks up his first decisive win of his tenure in FLA.
