Eric Nystrom Levels Kris Letang (video)

Pittsburgh Penguins D Kris Letang was caught in an awkward position during last night's game against the Dallas Stars. Eric Nystrom, already committed to the hit, finished him off. It appears that the hit caught mostly shoulder and grazed the chin.

Despite the Pittsburgh Penguins' reactions to the hit, I think the league would be foolish to make this hit a suspension. Letang put himself in this position but stretching out for the puck and lowering his head at the last moment.  Moreover the angle from the 0:38 mark shows a mostly shoulder to shoulder hit.

If the league suspends a hit like this, most hits in today's game will be suspension worthy.
