Game of the Night 11/15

After taking a nice, relaxing weekend off, we here at ZelePUCKin are ready to get back at it. Monday's game of the night is a Pacific Division rivalry game between the Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks. The puck will drop at 10:30 at the Shark Tank, or the HP Pavillion for those who don't know,  in San Jose, California.

Game of the Night (11/11) Recap

Alexander Semin made me eat my words. A victory for the Lightning? Ovechkin vs. Stamkos? Semin showed the world that he isn't happy playing third fiddle to Ovechkin and Stamkos when he potted 3 and helped on 2 others for 5 points in the 6-3 Caps victory.

Dan Ellis saw only 25 shots, compared to Washington's Neuvirth who faced 41. The Lightning did a great job of keeping the Caps shot total down, but Ellis played only solid and couldn't answer 5 shots that gave the Caps a comfortable lead for the majority of the game.

Neuvirth played well, and made a lot of saves that could have easily been goals. He kept it close long enough for Washington to pull away in the end. He is slowly closing the gap to Sergei Bobrovsky for best rookie goaltender in the league.

Game of the Night 11/12

Just twenty-four hours after a hard fought game between two division rivals, the Dallas Stars are right back at it again with another game in Southern California, this time against the high-flying Anaheim Ducks. The Stars fell to the Kings 3-1 in a hard fought, physical battle. The Ducks had yesterday off after beating the Islanders 1-0 on Wednesday.

The Stars (8-6-0) currently sit in tenth in the Western Conference but stand to move up dramatically, circumstances Eriksson has begun to draw comparisons to the great Peter Forsbergpermitting, with a win tonight. Led on offense by Brad Richards with 6 g and 18 pts and Loui Eriksson 7 g 16 pts, the Stars average 3.00 GF/G, good for 11th in the league. Their defense ranks 15th in the league, allowing 2.86 GA/G. Kari Lehtonen should be getting the start in net for Dallas tonight, he is 7-5-0 with a .906 and a 2.87.
